Best Certified Shops

1.Application requirement
Certified Shops that possess a passing grade in the 2020 evaluation result

2.Application period
4 January 2021 to 26 February 2021

3.Application method
Application can be submitted through either one of the following ways:
A. Apply via online account
B. Submit the application form of Best Certified Shops in person or by post to the Consumer Council
* Business Tax-Tax Demand Note (M/8 format) issued by the Financial Services Bureau must be submitted together with the application form; submission is not required if authorization has been granted to the Council to get the relevant information from the Financial Services Bureau

4.Announcement
The list of all participating shops will be posted on the Council’s website for consumers’ feedback

5.Evaluation criteria
  • Display information---40%
  • Sales policy---40%
  • Environment and service---20%

  • 6.Selection
  • First method: on-site evaluation will be carried out to select 40 shops with the highest scores to enter the second phase.
  • Second method: an in-depth evaluation will be carried out.
  • Third method: mystery shoppers to make actual business observation

  • 7.Final result
    Final result is calculated using the weighted average of each selection method:
  • First method----30%
  • Second method----50%
  • Third method----20%

  • 8.Award
  • 1. Best Certified Shops
    A trophy will be awarded to each of the 20 shops with top scores
  • 2. Excellent Certified Shops
    Certified Shops included in the Second selection phase will be awarded a Certificate of Excellent Certified Shop
  • 3. Merit prize
    A Certificate of Merit will be awarded to Certified Shops with scores over 80 in the First selection method
    * No separate certificate will be awarded to Best Certified Shops

  • 9.Result announcement and objection period
    Final result will be announced in December 2021 on the Consumer Council’s website

    10.Other matters
  • 1. Each tax payer is limited to apply once in the current event (only one application by the same taxpayer regardless of the number of branches);
  • 2. The number of participating shops is limited to 5 for license holders operating the same kind of business (in which 2 shops can be chosen by the owner and others to be drawn by the Council); all shops belonging to the same license holder will be considered to have won the relevant awards if all the shops mentioned above have won the awards;
  • 3. Qualification in the current event will be cancelled if entitlement to the Certified Shop emblem is lost during the selection period.
  • 4. Awarded businesses may use the relevant entitlement for promotion after getting the approval from the Council, please refer to the details in Terms of Use of Emblem.
