1. I have already submitted my application to be an “Adherent”, why is my shop not qualified as “Certified Shop”?

After joining as an “Adherent” and monitoring period has passed, application to become a “Certified Shop” can be submitted to the Consumer Council.

2. What are the advantages of shopping at a “Certified Shop”?

“Certified Shops” are obliged to abide by the “Regulations of Certified Shops” and the respective “Code of Practice” (if applicable), therefore, any transaction not exceeding MOP100,000 made at a “Certified Shop” is secured with a dispute resolution by means of arbitration. The policies and operations of “Certified Shops” also provide enhanced protection to consumers.

3. What are the benefits of being a “Certified Shop”?

In order to enhance service quality of shops to safeguard consumer rights and interests, “Adherents” are inspected and given improvement advices by specialized staff of the Macao Consumer Council. Shops that pass the assessment will be awarded the “Certified Shop” emblem. The Council also organizes seminars and exchange sessions for sharing experiences. Promotions on “Certified Shops” are carried out via various channels, namely activities, local and overseas exhibitions, website, and mobile phone apps, etc.

4. Is the number on the “Certified Shop” emblem the same as the “Adherent” number?

No, they are not the same. The number on the “Certified Shop” emblem generally remains the same.
