Certified Shop Accreditation Project
1.Aim
In order to promote honest business practice, to build a harmonious shopping environment and to enhance quality of businesses, the Consumer Council launched the “Certified Shop Accreditation Project” in 2001 to award “Adherents” that excel in their business practices, this serves as an important indicator for consumers to choose when shopping.

2.Prerequisites of becoming “Certified Shop”
a) Joined as an “Adherent”
b) No record of infringement of consumer rights and interests (for example, selling goods that infringe intellectual property rights) is recorded in the six-month monitoring period prior to application
*Monitory period will be waived when a tax payer whose shops belonging to the same industry already pass the indicated period applies to become an “Adherent” for the current shop
 

3.Required documents
Submission of a copy of Business Tax – Tax Demand Note (M/8 format) issued by the Financial Services Bureau

4.Exclusive services
a)Seminars and training programmes.
b)Online and offline promotions within and outside of Macau SAR (Including and not limit to mobile phone apps, mini programmes and special page.)
c)Legal consultation on “Consumer Rights and Interests Protection Law”.
d)Exclusive activities held for “Certified Shops”.
e)Personalized consultation service for “Certified Shops”

5.Requirements for “Certified Shops”
a)Strictly abide by the laws of the Macao SAR.
b)Joined as an “Adherent”.
c)Physical shops: open to public and operate in a fixed commercial premise;
Online shops: website with a registered domain and offers options of online payment methods, or operate under a certified e-market.
d)Operate retail or service businesses in an ongoing basis.
e)Submit the latest Business Tax – Tax Demand Note (M/8 format) issued by the Financial Services Bureau during the annual specified period.
*submission is not necessary if the Consumer Council has been authorized to retrieve such information from the Financial Services Bureau
f)Strictly abide by the “Regulations of Certified Shops”
g)Strictly abide by the “Terms of Use of Emblem”
h)Operate business with honesty and integrity to maintain the image of “Certified Shop”

6. Review
1. The Council carries out irregular inspection on “Certified Shops”, entitlement of the emblem will be suspended for those that fail to meet the requirements, and personalized consultation service will be provided. Entitlement will be restored if the shops make improvement and meet the requirements again.
2. Entitlement of the “Certified Shop” emblem will be suspended for a period not exceeding one year for shops that commit violations that greatly infringe consumer rights and interests or affect the image of “Certified Shops” (corresponding sanction will be imposed on shops operating the same kind of industry by the same licensed person)

7. Preventive measures
The Consumer Council has the right to take preventive measures on shops pending investigation procedures and suspend its entitlement of the “Certified Shop” emblem for a period not exceeding one year.
