Steps
Step 1: registered business owner/legal representative
Required documents:
A. Original copy of A2 form – “Declaration for Acceptance of Arbitration” (double-sided)
B. ID copy/copies of the legally authorized signatory/signatories
Remark 1: if the signatory is neither the business owner nor legal representative, the original copy of the authorization letter or the certified true copy must be submitted. (The mentioned original copy may also be presented in-person for verification)
Remark 2: if the business agrees to point 2 on the Declaration for Acceptance of Arbitration (A2) form, any new branch applying to become an Adherent in the future may skip the first step.
Remark 3: if the business agrees to point 4 on the Declaration for Acceptance of Arbitration (A2) form regarding the collection of personal data, there is no need to submit Business Tax - New Registration / Amendment Form - Form (M/1 format) and Business Tax – Tax Demand Note (M/8 format) annually.

Processing Time

Upon receipt of the application form and related information from the enterprise/business, approval result will be available within 20 working days (Performance Pledge).


Remark

1. The application form shall be signed by legal representative(s) of the enterprise in accordance with the specimens of signature as indicated on his/her identity card. [In case of an individual enterprise or Sole Proprietor, the owner of the enterprise represents himself as the legal representative. Should a commercial enterprise be set up in form of a limited company, the legal representative(s) is equivalent to the person who can represent the enterprise to participate in litigation or arbitration under the Articles of Association. (In the event that a member of an Administrative Authority is entitled to represent the enterprise, it means that the member of the Administrative Authority is regarded as the legal representative.)]
2. In accordance with the “Consumer Mediation and Arbitration Centre Regulations”, a business that has joined the “Adherent” scheme shall, upon receipt of the consent/request of the complainant, accepts to resolve any consumer dispute occurring in Macao in which the claims involved do not exceed the statutory value of appeal interest of the Court of First Instance (MOP100,000).
3. Detailed information regarding “Consumer Mediation and Arbitration Centre”, “Adherents”, “Certified shops” and the relevant “Codes of Practice” on various retail industries can be found respectively in the leaflets published by the Consumer Council or on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo).
4. If sufficient information has been submitted for the application of becoming an “Adherent”, the Macao Consumer Mediation and Arbitration Centre will complete documents review and on-site evaluation, and approval results will be notified within 20 working days (except for businesses which fail to cooperate with on-site evaluation).
5. Entitlement of the “Certified Shop” emblem will be maintained only if the business accepts and passes non-periodic evaluations.
6. Application of becoming an “Adherent” can be carried out online.
